According to statistics from the National Committee on Aging, at the end of 2024, 17.3% of the population — 241 million people — were 60 or older. Generally, a population is considered to be aging when 10% of the population is that age. WebIn 2010, that group was age forty-five to sixty-five, meaning the oldest baby Boomers were just reaching the age at which the U.S. Census considers them elderly.
