WebCytogenetic analysis is the study of the banded pattern of chromosomes during metaphase of the cell cycle. It is carried out on a cell-by-cell basis, and hence mosaicism is easily recognized when only a few cells carry the chromosomal abnormality. This analysis can detect large-scale chromosomal abnormalities, most commonly aneuploidy.
