Webb14 jan. 2024 · Having lived in Italy for over 2 years, I can tell you that there is no really simple answers and that Italians themselves often must use adapters from plush to plug. There are 3 principle types of plugs: 10 amp which uses a fatter prong, 10 amp which uses a thinnner prong, and schucko with a round plus holding two or three prongs. Webb17 feb. 2024 · Italian sockets take both 2-pin (prong?) and 3-pin plugs. The only sockets that need the third pin are the UK ones. The deciding factor is if your appliance has a 2-pin or a 3-pin plug on it. If it has a third (earth) pin, then you need a 3-pin adapter, otherwise you don't. Now the complicated bit.
