WebRayleigh–Bénard convection (RBC) is the buoyancy-driven flow in a fluid layer heated from below and cooled from above in the presence of gravity. The emergent convective flow enhances heat flux from the warm bottom boundary to the cool top boundary beyond the conductive flux from diffusion alone. WebWe present global heat-transfer and local temperature measurements, in an asymmetric parallelepiped Rayleigh-B ́enard cell, in which controlled square-studs roughnesses have been added. A global heat transfer enhancement arises when the thickness of the boundary layer matches the height of the roughnesses.

WebOct 15, 2024 · The multi-phase Rayleigh–Bènard convection has been weakly investigated, even though it plays a leading role in the theoretical and applied physics of the heat transfer enhancement. For the case of moderate turbulent convection, a rather unexpected result is an unusual kind of wind reversal, in the sense that the fluid is found to be strongly … WebRayleigh{B enard instability. The idea behind the Rayleigh{B enard instability is to take a uniform homogeneous uid sandwiched between two plates, and to heat the bottom plate so that a density gradient emerges, with a cooler, denser layer lying on top of a hotter, less dense layer, thereby inducing an unstable strati cation.

We focus on pattern formation near the onset of convection WebApr 13, 2024 · A model containing the main physical constituents is rather beneficial. This approach is given by the problem of rotating Rayleigh-Bénard convection (RRBC) : a rotating fluid layer heated from below and cooled from above. For large-scale systems, the governing parameters of RRBC take extreme values, leading to a regime of geostrophic turbulence.
